Winter Plants for Home and Greenhouse,

with Art Scarpa

A lifelong plants man, our speaker will discuss indoor placement of plants and will bring along examples of indoor plants from Camellias to Clivia, Jasmine to Primrose.  Believing that ‘there’s always room for one more”, Mr. Scarpa will discuss and bring examples of unusual miniature plants.

Kathy (daughter of NAGC Member Phila Slade) will lead a hands-on demonstration of composting ndoors.  Attendees of this workshop will learn       indoor composting techniques and how to avoid the pitfalls.

The NAGC will share this event with the Andover Spade and Trowel Garden Club.

NAGC Plant Sale

Our annual fundraiser.  All members are asked to donate at least 3 perennials from their gardens for the plant sale and to participate the day of the sale.  Plants should be delivered to Noni Macon’s patio 2 weeks before the sale.

Tuesday, May 18, 2010 9:00 AM departure from North Andover.

 

Trip—Mt. Auburn Cemetery Horticultural Tour

After departing North Andover at 9 a.m., we will arrive at Mount Auburn Cemetery, a National Landmark property, in time for a 10:30 a.m.  guided walking tour.  The impressive collection of more than 5,000 trees, 175 acres of rolling hills, dells, ponds, woodlands and clearings with plant species from around the world are a testament to Mount Auburn’s long standing reputation as a place of great beauty and calm.   

After the tour, we will have lunch at a nearby restaurant and before we depart for North Andover.  

Guests welcome. 

Limited to 15 people.  Participants will pay for their own lunch.
